If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. There are three images available, each for a different type of computer: 64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image Choose this to take full advantage of computers based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). You will need at least 384MiB of RAM to install from this image. This type of image is what most people will want to use. The desktop image allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. I have updated this to the full level of Ubuntu 14.04 that I can, but have not been able to get the Software Updater to allow me to upgrade to 16.04 yet.Īll in all, an excellent distro. More of a desire than a complaint, I wish there was an updated version of this distro, at least updated to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. This could be due partially to my internet connection. It will eventually allow the user to download and install system upgrades, but is inconsistent. The "Software Updater" tool/application seems a little glitchy. My only two complaints are as follows: 1. I really like that this has the Remastersys program included to allow for making custom ISO's
It has a good assortment of software and should be easy for a Linux user at any level to add more software or make customizations to. It can be easily used as a base for my further attempts to create something that is even more MacOS-like in a Linux enviroment.
